Maria Chiara Fontanella earned her degree in Experimental and Applied Biology from the University of Pavia in 2008. She later completed her PhD in 2013 through the Agrisystem Doctoral School for the Agro-Food System at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Piacenza.
