Tito Caffi

Prof. Tito. Caffi is Associate Professor in Plant pathology at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.

His research activity is mainly related to the study of the epidemiological and ecological aspects of several pathogens, which affect different arable and perennial crops. The main goal of his studies is to develop mechanistic, dynamic, epidemiological models to simulate pathogens life cycle and to provide information for risk assessment and disease management. He is constantly involved in both validation and evaluation of such models under different environmental conditions, and their implementation into Decision Support System aimed to help growers facing the decision-making process related to disease management. Finally, he is also studying and developing alternatives methods and biosolutions to be integrated into innovative strategies for disease management under both organic and IPM farming and the evaluation of systems sustainability as well as cultivation impacts.
